FAQs

Cataracts

Q: Will I have to get cataract surgery someday?

Not necessarily. After using these drops for six to nine months, you and your doctor will be able to tell if your body is responding and stopping the cataract. If you are not consuming the nutrients that your eyes need, you should also take the “Total Ocular Function” oral absorption spray containing potent vitamins, herbs and minerals necessary to maintain a healthy and clear crystalline lens.

Q: How are these drops different than other eye drops?

Our powerful broad spectrum homeopathic formula triggers the body’s mechanisms to halt and reverse cataracts, not just offer symptomatic relief. Our drops are “preservative free,” pH balanced, isotonic and feel wonderful to use. Our 0.33 fl. oz. bottle is the most economical available.

Q: After using these drops my eyes seem less dry and tired – why?

We include “Euphrasia,” known as “Eyebright,” which has a long history as a “tonic for the eyes” helping to vitalize your eyes and relieve dryness and redness.

Q: How long do I need to use the drops?

Cataracts develop slowly and are expected to improve slowly. Use the drops for six to nine months then return to your doctor for evaluation. Patients often report within weeks that visual acuity is improved, colors are brighter and glare is not so bothersome – cataracts come on slowly and it also takes time for the body to counteract them.

Q: How often do I use these drops?

Instill one drop in each eye three times per day.

Tear Stimulation Dry Eye

Q: Why is there a separate drop for Women?

Women have more dry eye due to hormone fluctuations. The Women’s drop has two extra ingredients which address this.

Q: I can buy eye drops cheap in the stores, why should I go to my doctor to get Natural Ophthalmics eye drops?

Natural Ophthalmics drops are professional quality drops and have at least nine advantages over drug store drops and other homeopathic drops. Other than the points above, a few examples include: preservative free; stronger; a symptom specific formula for women; powerful potencies; OK with contact lenses in; safe for children & pregnant, nursing women; no rebound effects.

Q: How are these drops different from other eye drops?

Most other eye drops are lubricant artificial replacement tears. Our drops do not attempt to replace tears, but work therapeutically to stimulate your eyes to moisturize with their own mechanisms. This should be the first line of treatment, especially before prescription anti-inflammatory drugs such as Restasis, which suppress the immune system and can cause side effects.

Allergy

Women have more dry eye due to hormone fluctuations. The Women’s drop has two extra ingredients which address this.

Q: I can buy eye drops cheap in the stores, why should I go to my doctor to get Natural Ophthalmics Ortho-K Eye Drops?

Natural Ophthalmics drops are specifically for Ortho-K and contact lens use, there are no comparable drops sold in stores.

Q: How often can I use these drops?

The Thick Ortho-K Drop is generally used just before going to bed. It can be reinstilled in the middle of the night if needed.

Use the Thin Ortho-K Drops generally first thing upon opening your eyes to moisturize and loosen up the lens for removal, then as often as necessary throughout the day. In fact, you should let your symptoms be your guide. Since these drops stimulate your body’s own ability to eliminate symptoms, you should use them as soon as you notice the symptoms returning.

Q: What is the difference between the Thin Eye Drop formula and the Thick formula?

There are two Ortho-K eye drop formulas. The homeopathic active ingredients are the same. The Thick Drop formula is in a thick lubricating base to reduce mechanical friction between the eye lid and the lens. The Thin Eye Drop formula is in a very clarifying and soothing base.

Q: How can I tell if I’m getting Macular Degeneration?

The first step is to see your eye doctor. One test you’ll take is the Amsler Grid Test which is free and easy.

Q: There are many vitamins for the eyes – why are yours better?

It is very challenging to know the differences between different vitamin products and when eye sight is at stake – you need the very best. The less expensive formulas do make huge compromises to cut costs. For example, one popular store brand used “two micrograms” of Lutein – that is 2,000 times less than our formula and is barely enough to list it on the package. Others use “earth minerals” which are very cheap and do not absorb into the blood. Ours are chelated via plants which make them absorbable. The most widely promoted formula is the AREDS Plus formula which has only about seven ingredients compared to our 40+ ingredients.
No other product that we know of combines ample amounts of the most powerful ingredients along with a “Green Food” capsule which insures that all of the synergistic nutrients which help absorption are included. This way we provide all of the 100+ carotinoids compared to the four or five the other products have. There are too many differences to list here, but we have to mention that our formula also includes digestive enzymes and probiotics to maximize absorption.

Q: How do you take the spray?

Spray towards the back and roof of your mouth. In order to raise the blood levels of nutrients and keep them higher all day long it is best to take two sprays three times per day.

Q: Why is oral absorption so important?

After the age of forty our digestive acids decrease and nutrients are not broken down and absorbed as well. Also, people who have had antibiotics do not have enough probiotic cultures in their intestines to assist absorption. Oral absorption solves this problem.

Q: My eyes water and tear very often, however, my doctor said I have dry eyes—how can that be?

Sometimes people have dry spots on the cornea and blinking irritates the eye and causes reflex tearing. It might sound strange, but you could have watering eyes due to dry eyes. The problem is that watery tears do not have the oily properties needed to lubricate. Proper testing by your doctor can identify if dry eyes or allergies are the problem. If the cause is dry eye, then use our “Women’s Tear Stimulation Dry Eye Drops or Tear Stimulation Forté Dry Eye Drops.”

Q: My doctor prescribed other drops as well – do I really need to take them all?

Yes, it is important to follow your doctor’s instructions exactly. “Your doctor knows best.”
